VOIP
The NEC Aspire allows you to converge your voice and data networks
and enjoy the many advantages of VoIP. Your business can benefit from
the potential cost-saving advantages of IP even, though you are not ready
to migrate to 100% IP Telephony immediately.
You have the freedom to
adopt VoIP when and where you need it. Using NEC Aspire, you can greatly
reduce the cost of business.
VPN
A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses the Internet, to provide
remote offices or individual users with secure access to their organization's
network. The goal of a VPN is to provide an organization with the same capabilities
as owned or leased lines, but at a much lower cost.
A VPN works by using the shared public infrastructure
while maintaining privacy through security procedures and tunneling protocols.
In effect, the protocols, by encrypting data at the sending end and decrypting
it at the receiving end, send the data through a "tunnel" that
cannot be "entered" by data that is not properly encrypted.
An additional level of security involves encrypting not only the data,
but also the originating and receiving network addresses.
LAN, WAN and Wireless Networks
A local area network (LAN) supplies
networking capability to a group of computers in close proximity to each
other such as in an office building, a school, or a home. A LAN is useful
for sharing resources like files, printers, games or other applications.
A LAN in turn often connects to other LANs, and to the Internet or other
WAN.
A wide area network (WAN) spans a large geographic
area, such as a state, province or country. WANs often connect multiple
smaller networks, such as local area networks (LANs) or metro area networks
(MANs).
A wireless
network, or wireless
networking, is defined as technology that allows two or more computers,
to communicate, (enabling file sharing, printer sharing, internet connection,
etc), using standard protocols but without the use of network
cabling. The current industry term, wireless network, however, tends to
refer to wireless LANs (Local Area Networks). This technology, has
heralded the emergence of affordable wireless network solutions that
are becoming increasingly popular in business, industry, schools and
in the home.
